GPS position data are updated depending on statistical error and accuracy coefficient:A GPS (Global Positioning System) navigation receiver on a vehicle produces first and second present positional data from GGPS electric waves and an on board speed and orientation sensor system.;A data processor updates present positional data using first present positional data if three conditions are fulfilled:a) if the difference between the previous and present first data is equal or smallerb) if a PDOP accuracy evaluation value of present first data is equal to or smallerc) if the difference between first and second data is equal or greater than respective predetermined values.
