Combined thrust and support bearing for hydroelectric machine with vertical axis

In a hydroelectric machine with a vertical axis, a shaft (1) mounted in a star-shaped bearing support (6, 7) and having a shaft coupling flange (30) is provided with a supporting head. This has bearing surfaces (3, 4) and/or bearing rings for a supporting bearing and a thrust bearing. The segments (12) of the thrust bearing are supported via adjusting elements (20) on a thrust ring (11) firmly connected to the star-shaped bearing support. Each thrust bearing segment (12) is supported via a single segment carrier (14) on the thrust ring (11) of the star-shaped bearing support. The segment carriers (14) are screwed to the said thrust ring (11), the inside diameter of the thrust ring (11) being larger than the outside diameter of the shaft coupling flange (30). In this way, it is possible to obtain small diameters of the bearings and hence keep down the bearing losses. There is no need of thrust rings divided (for the purpose of assembly) into parts. IMAGE
