An automatic shunting control system for use with rail goods wagons employs built in microcomputer controllers. The wagons have speed sensors (GS) and proximity sensors (ES) providing inputs to the computer modules and a radio (DF) link exchanges data with a central fixed main computer control station. Each wagon has an identification data element (ID) and a display and input terminal (ABE). Outputs control the braking (BR) and the automatic coupling elements. The braking units limit speed to a preset value.
