PROCESS AND DEVICE FOR REPROGRAMMING EXISTING APPLICATIONS BY MEANS OF OBJECT-ORIENTED TECHNOLOGY

A process and device are disclosed for reprogramming an existing programme code (10) by means of a reprogrammer (20) that examines the programme code (10) and derives therefrom object specifications for one or several objects. Four types of object specifications may be generated. The abstract specification object (105) describes in an abstract manner an interface between the outer world and the functions offered by the programme code (10). The data specifications object (110) describes the methods of access to the data required by the abstract specifications object (105). The visual specification object (120) describes a logical visual representation of the interface. The presentation specification object (130) generates in connection with the visual specification object (120) a graphic representation of the interface on a screen. The generated object specifications may be used in connection with the re-written code in order to create new programmes.
