The first end (10) of a bar (9) to be bent is fitted into a stationary bending station (1). The second end (11) is fitted into a clamping device (6) of a moveable bending station (2). This is moved to position the first end, while the second end is bent simultaneously. The clamping device is released, and the first bar end is fitted into a clamping device (6') of the stationary bending station. The second station is moved into a new processing position, and the first bar end is bent simultaneously. The second clamping device is released, stages 1 to 4 are repeated, until the bar has the required shape.
