Procedure and apparatus for the preparation of weather satellite pictures

A system for presenting weather satellite images in which the various kinds of cloud formation are characterised w.r.t. both their infra-red and visible light spectra enables data to be recorded relevant to cloud temp., height, density and thickness. The antenna (1) receiver (2) and recording unit (3) accept the satellite signals which are further processed by the module (4) for IR spectrum which is dependent on temp. and therefor height. Module (5) examines the visible spectra for density and thickness followed by stages (6,7) which allocate a characteristic colour or grey-valve to each element of the video-raster to enable cloud types and their changes to be monitored.
