The present invention relates to a double speed playback method of a digital video disc and a video stream parsing device for double speed playback, by which advance information for random access is placed in the middle of a stream.;In view of the fact that conventional high speed digital video discs carrying MPEG streams could not be played at high speeds, such as LD, without prior information for random access, the present invention provides a plurality of fields in a predetermined portion of a user area of each sector of a digital video disc. A random access table area is formed, and each field of the random access table records relative positions of the next and previous I, P, and B pictures for double speed play to enable double speed play, and behind the MPEG system parser. By setting a video parser to pass only data for double speed play to the MPEG video chip, double speed play is possible.
