SUBSTANCE: method for prognostication of coal seam outburst hazard in place of seam opening includes prognostication of seam outburst by the sizes of relieved zone in front of the opening. When opening face approaches the coal seam, exploratory hole is drilled to fully cross the seam. Rate of gas emission q1 from hole is measured before its stabilization. Then, one more hole is drilled and gas emission rate q2 is measured by similar procedure. Ratio value by nomograph is used to determine radius R of relieved zone and to compare with safe radius R Rs.
