FIELD: electric engineering. SUBSTANCE: device selects working point of thyristor- reactor unit. Variations in reactive power are suppressed using minimal power of thyristor-reactor unit for all levels of variations. Suppression does not depend on concrete power of capacitor circuit of static thyristor compensator. Automatic selection of working point is provided by dynamic storing of absolute value of reactive power of load for long time. This value sets minimal working point of thyristor-reactor unit using multiplication by factor that depends on deviation of main voltage from standard. Unit which calculates said factor is dynamic and provides minimal value of initial displacement of working point of thyristor-reactor unit for each phase for all possible working modes. Device may be used for control of reactive power of three-phase industrial loads which power changes abruptly. EFFECT: minimal power for all modes of load.
