FIELD: synthesis of high-molecular compounds. SUBSTANCE: method involves the use of initiating system Co(3+)/amino acid. Glycine, alanine, histidine, diaminoacetic acid are used as amino acid source. Concentration of Co(3+) and amino acid at homopolymerization is (0.27-2.60) x (0,27-2•60)•10-4 and (1.5-15) x (1,5-15)•10-3 mole/l, at homopolymerization of methacryloylhydroxyethyltrimethylammonium sulfomethyl salt and homopolymerization of acrylamide and above mentioned compound is (3.0-13.6) x (3,0-13,6)•10-4 and (0.15-15) x (0,15-15)•10-2 mole/l, respectively. EFFECT: simplified method and conditions, increased links of cationic comonomer, retained high molecular mass, enhanced flocculating capability. 4 tbl
