Low-stress process for moving animals esp. pigs to a stunning station or similar place is as follows. (a) the animal is driven into a channel-like transport section closed on both sides; (b) the transport section is closed at its entrance by an advancing panel; (c) the panel is advanced further through the channel; (d) on reaching the end of the transport section, the animal is pushed out into the next transport section or stunning station. Pref. (e) the free-running transport channel floor advances with the panel, or coasts in the direction of travel; (f) the floor of the stunning station advances with the panel, or coasts in the direction of travel; (g) a number of transport sections are arranged sequentially, and animals passes through these in succession and at a higher rate than with a single section.
