Fault signal generating method for satellite free-space laser heterodyning receiver

In the method of generating a fault signal for a spatial beam control of an optical (laser) heterodyning receiver, focussed received-light is heterodyned with light from a local laser (3) in free-space. The received light is supplied to detector arrangements (4) such that after the corresponding addition or subtraction of the output currents of the detector arrangements, both a fault signal for a beam control and the data signal are produced. A lens arrangement and two tilting mirror arrangements are used to direct and focus the receive light.
