The device is for anchoring reinforcing and pre-stressing steel (15) in foundations and uses a cylindrical sleeve and has a deformation region in the front region, divided by longitudinal slots (4) into bending elements (5). It can be driven into a spreading element (8) with a threadless hole(9). The spreading element has a support region (10) for the bending elements, inclined to the axis (A) of the sleeve by between 30 and 80 degrees. By compression of the bending elements, it is driven against the wall of a mounting hole (11) in the deformation region of the sleeve. The anchoring results from positive locking in an undercut (13) of the mounting hole. The deformation region has at least six bending elements long enough to give a 140% increase in diameter during anchoring.
