Metal, plastics, wood or concrete plates (2,3) are grooved (17) on their top edge and fitted on the bottom edge with a slightly protruding sealing lip (4) arranged so the lip on the plate above fits into the groove in the plate below. The rubber sealing lip (4) is held between two inner and outer plates (2,3) to produce the groove above and lip below. The width of one plate (2) projects both sides from the second plate (3), using plates of equal height. The lip (4) should be as wide as the first plate (2), the plates being screwed (9) together. In a variant, one plate is in U-section so the plate legs (5,15) lie at top and bottom plate edges. One plate can have a U-shaped part in one side in the area where the two plates register. One plate at least is reinforced by ribs, again where the plates register, the seals being plate-shaped or as frame, and the groove (17) is rounded off at the edges (57,58).
