Process for the detoxification of chlorine-containing substances in the industrial waste

A method is provided of harmlessly decomposing chlorine-containing substances contained in industrial waste which are toxic and difficult to decompose in nature. The method includes charging the chlorine-containing industrial waste into a melting-refining furnace preferably heated by electric power so as to melt and refine the industrial waste at 1100 DEG C or higher, thereby thermally decomposing the chlorine-containing industrial waste. Generally, the chlorine-containing substances are separated from the industrial waste prior to charging. IMAGE
