Repairing the base of a vertical pipe shaft which descends to a buried landfill

The mounting robot (11) is lowered into the shaft and has a gripping assembly (17) for stackable, hollow cylindrical shaft lining sections. There is also a device (37) to backfill the shaft sections (1). The gripper (17) is remotely controlled; it has a gear (24) driven by a pneumatic actuator (31). On the underside of the robot is a video camera (29). The complete assembly has a lifting ring (43) for attachment to the crane rope. The method of use is also claimed.
