Proximity fuse for shells combating flying targets

Flying bodies, partic. shells, have a proximity fuse for combating flying targets using information on the approach speed and the relative speed between fuse and target. The novelty is that a timer is provided which determines the length of the time interval between reaching a predetermined target distance from the fuse and an uncompensated ignition point. A delay device is provided to retard ignition in accordance with the length of the time interval from the uncompensated ignition time, such that the delay time is long with a short time interval length and is short with a long time interval length.
