To align and hold the strings of a strung racquet the invention proposes a press (1) which consists of two, preferably hinged (3) frame halves (18a, 18b). In at least one of the frame halves (18a or 18b) there is an adjustably positionable insert (6a or 6b) that has a number of elevations (10a or 10b) which when the two frame halves (18a, 18b) are folded together engage in the mesh apertures (15) of the strings (14) of the racquet (13) and press the strings into their desired position. If the two frame halves (18a, 18b) each have an insert (6a, 6b) with the elevations (10a, 10b), the elevations (10a) of one insert (6a) are offset from the elevations (10b) of the other insert (6b) by the mesh spacing of the strings (14).
