In this process, the exit gas is withdrawn at a temperature of 350-400@C from the regenerators of the coke ovens and cooled to about 90-100@C in a downstream coal-drying unit. The exit gas is then fed to the stack, the NOX content of the exit gas leaving via the stack being reduced to a desired value and being kept constant in such a way that a part stream of the exit gas is, before it enters the coal-drying unit, passed through a denox unit operating by the SCR process.
