A process for producing granular polymer containing a reduced amount of fine particles and having a sharp particle size distribution and a controlled bulk density is disclosed. The process comprises treating a polymer latex obtained by emulsion polymerization according to the following steps (I) and (II): step (I): the step of coagulating the polymer latex and preparing a slurry comprising coagulated particles dispersed in water; step (II): the step of granulation by mixing the slurry obtained in step (I) with an organic liquid which is difficultly soluble in water and which does not dissolve said polymer and, if desired, water in such a manner that (a) the proportion of water based on the whole mixture is 50 to 85 wt % and (b) the content of said organic liquid is 15 to 150 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the polymer in said latex, and keeping the whole mixture for 0.5 minute to 1 hour at a temperature (°C) of: A - 40 « T « A (wherein A represents an azeotropic temperature (°C) of the mixture). In this process, the size of the resulting polymer particles can be controlled as desired by keeping the surface tension between said organic liquid and the dispersing medium of the slurry within the range of from 0.5 to 30 dynes/cm.
