To apply heat to a moving yarn, during a false twisting texturising process, the effective length of the heating zone is adjusted according to the variable parameters such as yarn speed, heat capacity, thermal conductivity of the yarn being worked, without allowing the temp. to drop below 350 deg.C.. ADVANTAGE - The method allows polymer yarns to be processed, withoot fouling the heater through the temps. which lie above the melting point of the material.
