Appts. (as described in DE4123814), for oxygenation of the surface and deep water of still or flowing low oxygen content waters, consists of a container, through which the water flows and which contains submerged sieve layers with dwell zones for free flow or pumped flow of water, an air stream from an aerator being passed upwardly through the sieve layers and the treated water being passed to the container outlet after the last sieve layer. The container (1) bottom consists of a hollow box profile frame (26) which is connected by an air channel (33) to the aerator and which has peripherally distributed air channel (33) to the aerator and which has peripherally distributed small outlet openings (27); and (b) a finely perforated plate (15) is fixed to the inside of the frame (26) above the outlet openings (27) and a plate (23) is fixed in the container (1) above the perforated plate (15) and the water inlet (8), stamped mixing elements (24), pressed depressions or other contours and dwell zone mouldings (10) being provided to form air cushions above or below the plate (23). ADVANTAGE - The arrangement of sieve layers and dwell zones gives longer and more intensive contacting of the air with the water and thus avoids the formation of large bubbles.
