A process to wind a yarn from a false twist installation on to a reel former, in which the yarn is first coated with lubricant. The free end of yarn, at the commencement of winding is held in a suction tube, and has been kept free of the lubricant application. Pref. the lubricant container (13) has an immersion roller (1) which applies the oil or similar material to at least one yarn (Y) on the top surface. The hinged guide rollers (2) are mounted on a plate attached to the hinge, which has a spring to set the guides (2) in up to down position. When down for normal running, the yarn touches the top of the immersion roller (1), and when up, the yarn passes above the roller without being lubricated. The compression spring in the arragement (15) is set or released by a solenoid (81) and sliding attachment (82). When the winder has finished a full reel, and the end is cut to release it, the reel is transferred to a transporter by a doffing mechanism. As the new loose end is produced from falsetwist mechanism, the lubricator is released, adn the suction tube draws in a suitable length to take up to the winders. At the same time a new former is fixed on to the spindle, and the yarn is drawn from the suction tube for the initial amount of winding, without any slackness. The lubricator then applies oil, to enable the winding to proceed smoothly. ADVANTAGE - In the suction tube, and at commencement of winding on the former, the yarn is held securely, as no lubricant has been applied. In cold weather and high viscosity of lubricant the suction is ineffective and slackness is found in the yarn, preventing efficient wind on.
