Surfaces in potash and/or salt mines are stabilised with packing with used wood pref. used furniture, which is comminuted and mixed with stripping solns. and/or potash or salt soln. from current or previous recovery. Wood is non-inflammable and non-gasing and is mixed with other dusts from mining or from combustion and/or dusts from iron prodn. foundries etc. so that they form a building material pref. with addn. of binders, e.g. cement, which meets the static requirements.
