The suction appts. at a winder station has a suction opening between the unwinding spool and a section of running yarn in a guiding or braking device. The opening and yarn are enclosed by side walls which approach each other away from the opening to form over their length a narrow parallel-sided slit for laying in the yarn. Here there is a device (33) to close the slit (39).
