Appts. for increasing the life span of rolls in roll stands of a rolling mill with a single-line roll stand configuration

The appts. for increasing the life span of rolls is characterised by the following, (a) the rolls of the roll pairs (1, 2, 3, 4) of individual roll stands are selectively provided with two or more coaxially positioned grooves (5,6),(7,8) of different sizes; (b) two or more roll stands of the rolling installation can be aligned with one another in a particular manner, (c) the rolls stands are displaced relative to the centre line of the rolling installation dependent on the position of the respective grooves (5, 6, 7, 8) on their rolls.
