Processes for cleaning and disinfecting apparatus and instruments

In the machine cleaning and heat disinfection of medical and biotechnological appts. and instruments, the appts. and instruments are treated with an acid or acidified cleaning liquor at up to 55 degrees C, a compatible basic cleaning and neutralising agent is added to the cleaning liquor, in the presence of the appts. and instruments, to a pH of at least 6.5, and the neutralised or alkalised cleaning liquor, and the appts. and instruments in contact with it, are disinfected by heating. The cleaning liquor has pH 1-4, and is used at 10-30 degrees C, esp. at room temp. After neutralisation or alkalisation the liquor has pH 7-12. Heat disinfection is 84 (pref. 90) degrees C, for 3 (pref. 10) mins.
