A process is disclosed for generating electronic signatures in a data carrier arrangement with at least a non-volatile memory and a pseudo-random generator. The non-volatile memory is subdivided into at least one value zone that works as a counter, a zone for counting carried out signature calculations and a zone for storing a secret signature code. The contents of said memory zones are used as input data by the pseudo-random generator to calculate a signature and the result of said calculation represents the electronic signature of the institution associated with the secret code for the contents of the value zone.
