The field source includes a pulse generator (2) connected by a lead (32) to the probe (1). Parallel to the lead, within the probe, is a potentiometer (30), the resistance of which can be adjusted by a knob on the outside of the housing (31). Through this potentiometer the strength of the pulse in the probe at the induction coil (3) or coupling plates (4) can be set. For B fields, the intensity control offered by the potentiometer can be combined with a ferrite element.
