Gas filled microcapsule white pigments for prepn. of dispersion dyes

Gas-contg. microcapsules, useful as pigments for dyes, esp. dispersion dyes, or for dyeing paper or plastics-prepd. by polymerisation of a polymerisable substance in aq. soln. of emulsifying agent (A) or quasi-emulsifying agent (B), or a mixt. of (A) and (B), whilst stirring and opt. adding polymerisation initiators, inhibitors and/or stabilisers. Also claimed are (food) dyes contg. these microcapsules which have been converted into a powder by a drying process such as spray- or freeze-drying, and then processed into a ready-to-use form either by (i) adding binder to form a dry dye concentrate which is redispersed in water, or (ii) redispersing the powder in an aq. binder formulation.
