Electrical and electrochemical end-column detectors are provided in which a sensing microelectrode 300;530 is placed at the outlet of the separation capillary 100;400 so that the effluent flows out of the capillary between a small gap 330 (1 to 5um) between the sensing microelectrode and the capillary end.
