PURPOSE: To obtain a photochromic material which can form a J-associated body and a H-associated body with one kind of material and can be used for multi-wavelength optical recording by using a photochromic material of specified structure. ;CONSTITUTION: The photochromic material expressed by formula I is used. In formula I, R1 and R2 are alkyl groups of 1-30 carbon number, at least one of R3-R6 is one group selected from amino groups, alkoxy groups of 1-5 carbon number, and alkylamino groups of 1-5 carbon number. At least one of R4 and R6 is one group selected from amino groups, alkoxy groups of 1-5 carbon number, or alkylamino groups of 1-5 carbon number. In formula I, at least one of R4 and R6 is a methoxy group.
