A process for the preparation of dialkyl succinylsuccinate esters from mixtures of dialkyl succinates, formed by separate or in situ transesterification of dimethyl succinate with C6 to C1/4 alkanols and their conversion to dialkyl 2,5-diarylamino-3,6-dihydroterephthalate esters having high solubility in organic solvents.
