This prosthesis is of the type comprising a metal cap (3) in which is engaged an insert (4) made of a material which promotes sliding. According to the invention: - the concave wall of the cap (3) and the convex wall of the insert (4) are of spherical shape so as to permit the multidirectional clearance of the insert (4) when it is engaged in the cap (3); - the cap (3) has a curved tab (5) which projects outwards and forms a hook intended to be engaged in the obturator foramen (6) of the iliac bone (7); - the cap (3) comprises, on the side opposite this tab (5), at least one tab or blade (8) projecting outwards and oriented in such a way as to come into contact with the bone after positioning of the acetabular element (2), this tab or blade (8) being drilled with at least one hole (9) for the passage of at least one fastening screw (10), and - the outer wall of the cap (3) is completely covered with biocompatible material promoting incorporation of the acetabular element (2) in the bone.
