The video-endoscope includes a light source (88) operating continuously and a sequential filtering device comprising a rotating disc carrying three filters (71-73) corresp. to the three primary colours of the spectrum. The filtered light is transmitted by a bundle of optical fibres (11) to the field of view. A monochrome CCD detector generates a signal representing the light reflected of a particular colour. Three images are built up in a memory representing the three colour components, and these are combined to form an RGB type colour television signal for display.
