The apparatus has a support frame (0), resting on the ground, that supports a casing (B) which is equipped with two pedals (1,2) which are staggered in height. A tubular structure (3) is joined to the casing and is held by the user. The casing and structure are articulated on the support frame and can be locked in different angular positions. An arm (6), articulated on the support frame, has a sleeve (5) articulated on it which moves on a slide (4) joined to the tubular structure. The pedals are joined to supports that slide on parallel rods (10) and are joined to chains passing round pinions.
