The folding machine has multiple document feeder tables (7,8), cutting machines or printers, each holding a stack of documents filed in increasing or decreasing order, based on client identification number, order of addresses stored in the memory of a computer or client bar code order. A reading table (9,10) is placed between tables holding document stacks and the central table (13). The reading table includes an adjustable arm carrying a camera (11,12) and adjustable, retractable fingers stopping the document on the table and releasing it when the reading is completed. The camera reads the document. A computer (14) performs the character recognition on the camera image, and controls the delivery of the documents to the appropriate folding station and to the collecting point by actuating an electromagnet controlling rollers which carry the document.
