The vehicle of the invention is designed for non-autonomous microorganisms of the animal kingdom, such as gametes and embryos which must be kept alive outside their natural environment for human intervention, and is capable of be kept ready for use for extended periods. It is an aqueous medium comprising, in addition in particular to nutritional agents (sugars and amino acids), buffers and mineral salts conventionally used, a protective product formed as an embryonic growth support by a living organism, which, in the state of the art is of animal origin and added extemporaneously to the use of the vehicle and which, according to the invention, is a lecithin extracted from soybeans and introduced into the aqueous medium in the formulation of the vehicle. When the storage of the microorganisms is cryogenic, glycerol is added to the vehicle. In a particular application, the microorganisms are bovine sperm.
