Novel biopolymer derivatives in the form of precursors of crosslinkable products, crosslinkable products or at least partially crosslinked products. The invention concerns, in particular, a biopolymer, and especially collagen, modified with grafts of cystein residues or derivatives thereof (cysteic residues) bound to reactional functions, that are carried by said biopolymer and each comprising at least one sulphurous grouping and at least one nitrogenous grouping, both protected by the one and only protective grouping. The invention also relates to a method of obtaining such a biopolymer. The biopolymer can be used, in particular, in the preparation of biomaterials for obtaining medical and especially surgical or cosmetic articles including prostheses, implants and the like.
