The deceleration and recovery of the vehicle is controlled by an adapter that intercepts the engine and vehicle speed control signals that determine the changing of gear ratios. The signals are processed by the adapter to match thresholds set by the driver. The driver is able to set the style of driving they prefer such as sporting, grand touring, or touring. The adapter has a computer that makes use of the data and the driver settings to determine the timing of the signal to change gear. The sporting mode has a narrow speed range (900 rpm) around the peak power output, the grand touring mode has a wider range (1800 rpm), and the touring mode a wider range of 2600 rpm.
