The projectile has a payload (10), e.g. an infrared, electromagnetic or jamming decoy, with deployable stabilising (12) and braking (14) parachutes, each equipped with its own time delay system to actuate it at the required altitude. The projectile has a separable propulsion stage (20), and the two parachutes have surface areas of under 2 sq m and over 10 sq m respectively.
