A sandwich construction semi-finished element prodn. able to receive a finishing covering and having a honeycombed cell core (2) open on both sides and a fibrous woven or non-woven support (1) is impregnated by the intermediatory of a thermoplastic hot melt adhesive in the form of a powder, aqueous solution, film or pressure sensitive film adhesive. The adhesive layer is reactivatable when needed during application of the finishing covering by:(a) heating to above 60 deg C, and less than the m.pt. of the core; or by:(b) an intermediate solvent at atmos. temp.; or by:(c) auto adhesion of a pressure sensitive adhesive after removal of a protection tape.
