P The braking system comprises two brake cylinders (22, 24), a pump for pressurizing a fluid coming from a reservoir (40) and supplying the fluid to the two cylinders, a pressure control device actuated by solenoid ( 36, 42) disposed between the reservoir and the pump and the two brake cylinders; and a controller (12) for controlling the pressure control device to regulate the pressures in the two brake cylinders, wherein the pump includes a piston (64) received in a cylindrical bore formed to partially define a chamber (66) pump which communicates with the reservoir by a suction port (94), and also with the two brake cylinders by two respective discharge ports (80, 82), the pump comprising a device (68, 72) to disconnect the two discharge ports from each other in at least part of the piston discharge stroke. /P
