Sound reinforcement systems for acoustic stringed instruments

The pickup has varying length neodymium magnets mounted above an air coil. The electronics for the pre-amplification and the power supply for the system may be contained within the pickup casing. The casing also acts as a carrier for the microphone system which can be mounted either internally or externally of the instrument. The electronics to control, blend and power these magnetic pickup/mic systems can be housed in a module the dimensions of which allow it to be either plugged into the instrument using an end pin jack, or used separately e.g. belt mounted. The electronics and power supply contained within the module can also be mounted in the instrument. The on-board unit provides an assembled unit of magnetic pickup and microphone system with associated electronics which can be installed during guitar manufacture and may lie under the finger board.
