Chopped carbon fibres for use as an electrode for an accumulator or as an additive to enhance electrical conductivity

Carbon fibres for use in eg. electrodes or as an additive in eg. glues and adhesive to enhance the electrical conductivity comprise chopped crystal carbon fibres having a diameter of about 4 to 7 micrometers and a chopped length of about 0.5 to 3.00 mm. The fibres may be coated with a surfactant prior to chopping into short fibres. The surfactant enhances dispersion of the chopped fibres in water for dispersion in a lead oxide paste in the formation of a coating for the positive electrode of an accumulator.
