NEW PHYSIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE SUBSTANCE QM16-A, ITS USE AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new substance having cyclopropyl pyrroloindole structure, exhibiting potent proliferation inhibitory action on various tumorcells thus useful as a medicine (composition), esp. as an antineoplastic agent or tumor therapeutic agent. ;SOLUTION: This new physiologically active substance (addition salt) is expressed by the formula, and obtained by the following process: a strain belonging to the family Streptomyces and having ability to produce this substance (e.g. Streptomyces sp. QM-16) is subjected to aerobic liquid culture at 15-35°C in an appropriate medium (for example, prepared by dissolving potato starch, glucose, glycerol, polypeptone, yeast extract, corn steep liquor, sodium chloride and calcium carbonate so as to have the final pH at 7.4); the resultant culture fluid is filtered to obtain microdes, which are then subjected to extraction with an organic solvent, the resultant extract liquid is concentrated at a reduced pressure and then joined with the culture filtrate followed by extraction using an organic solvent, the resultant extract liquid is then dehydrated, filtered and concentrated, and the concentrate is purified by chromatography.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
