PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the filling in the vicinity of a ceramics core provided in a die by rapidly applying the gas pressure into the die to reduce pores in the poured molten metal. ;SOLUTION: A die 12 is relatively evacuated in a vacuum casting chamber. The molten metal is introduced in a die cavity 16 of the die 12 through molten metal filling passages 34, 35. The gas pressure is applied to the molten metal poured in the die cavity 16. The gas pressure is sufficiently rapidly applied after pouring the molten metal into the die 12 to reduce localized pores in the molten metal due to the surface tension effect between the molten metal and the components of the die 12. The gas pressure is applied by introducing the gas into the chamber from a pressure vessel. The level of the internal porosity formed during solidification of the molten metal can be reduced.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
