CHOLESTEROL CLATHRATE AND COSMETIC CONTAINING THE SAME BLENDED THEREIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cholesterol clathrate and its hydrated composition, excellent in stability and safety, having a high water-holding capacity in order to sustain moistness and useful as a cosmetic, a composition for a lipstick, etc., by stirring and mixing a hydroxyalkylated cyclodextrin with a cholesterol ester. ;SOLUTION: This cholesterol ester clathrate comprises a cholesterol ester included in a hydroxyalkylated cyclodextrin. This clathrate is obtained by stirring and mixing a hydroxyalkylated cyclodextrin [e.g. hydroxypropylated cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD)] with a cholesterol ester (e.g. cholesteryl ester of a macadamia nut oil and fat fatty acid). The cholesterol ester clathrate is mixed with ion exchange water to provide a hydrated composition, which is then used to afford a cosmetic comprising 5-30wt.% hydroxyalkylated cyclodextrin, 5-80wt.% cholesterol ester and 5-60wt.% water. Furthermore, 1-10wt.% resultant hydrated composition is blended to afford a stable composition for a lipstick having a high water-holding capacity.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
