PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to relieve the positioning accuracy of a spot light source and photodetector by setting the effective diameter of the gauss optical flux in a first microlens larger than the effective diameter of the gauss optical flux in a second microlens. ;SOLUTION: This imaging optical system consists of the first microlens 10 and the second microlens 12 as convex lenses. The image of the spot light source (s) is formed to an intermediate image by the first lens 10 and this intermediate image is formed at the photodetecting surface of the photodetector (d) by the second lens 12. The spot light source (s), the first lens 10, the second lens 12 and the photodetector (d) are so positioned that the effective diameter ω2 of the gauss optical flux at the lens face of the first lens 10 is larger than the effective diameter ω4 of the gauss optical flux at the lens face of the second lens 12. Then, the quantity of the light which is no longer transmitted through the second lens 12 by the mispositioning and more particularly lateral deviation of the spot light source (s) is decreased and the quantity of this incident light (consequently, the quantity of the transmitted light) is increased.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
