PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the dislodgment of coated optical fibers and the degradation in the transmission loss of the coated fibers after twisting by inserting coated optical fiber ribbons into slots so as to come into contact with the rear surfaces of the slots with respect to the progressing direction of the slots. ;SOLUTION: A slot inversion detecting section 9 is formed to a cylindrical shape and an S-Z slot rod 1 travels therein. A jig body 4 successively disposed in the slot inversion detecting section 9 inverts simultaneously as well when the slot inversion detecting section 9 inverts. The front end of the guide pipe 5 moves along the inside wall of the slots 2 in the slots 2 and the twisted coated optical fiber ribbons are also successively twisted along the inside walls of the slots 2. Namely, the coated optical fiber ribbons are inserted into the slots 2 so as to come into contact with the rear surfaces of the slots in the progressing direction of the slots 2. As a result, the supply tension of the coated optical fiber ribbons is not only received at the peak parts alone of the slot inversion but is received in a large range as well and, therefore, the burden acting on the coated fibers is made smaller.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
